ABOUT ME

THE GRINGO
WOODWORKER
My name is Dave Scott and I'm a self taught woodworker-hobbyist who is now making a few things for sale. I love working with wood - the smell, feel, beauty of the grain and the infinite opportunity to convert it into something beautiful, useful or fun (not that I always accomplish that).
I started out using a scrollsaw making wind driven machines (whirligigs) because they fascinated me. I moved on to make artsy things, signs, baskets, lazy susans, boxes and coasters for friends and family and now am moving on to make smallish things that may be of interest for others.

I welcome a challenge so please contact me if you see a pattern on Etsy, the net or Facebook that you like please contact me and I'll see what I can do.

THE
SHOP
My relatively humble shop is located just outside of San Ramón, Costa Rica.

My shop is small and for that reason I do not make anything requiring lamination nor large items as they take up too much space. I make almost everything by request. The few things that I spray with acrylic, paint or polyurethane I do with canned paint as there is no space for anything else. If an item is going to have food on it then I finish it with beeswax and mineral oil unless requested. The finish is ny own "home brew" made from pharmacy grade mineral oil and beeswax from a local bee keeper.
THE
PHILOSOPHY
My shop philosophy is simple:
1. Do what I love and love what I do.
2. Make everything to the best of my ability at the best price possible.
3. Feed and my treat my crew well and do my utmost to keep them happy.
